Director of the Institute of Economy attended 5th World Government Summit

5th World Government Summit was held in Dubai on 12-14 February. 

The summit which is held under the auspices of Vice-President of United Arab Emirates (UAE), prime-minister and ruler of Dubai Sheik Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, brought together over 4 thousand representatives from world’s 139 countries, including well-known social-political figures, scientist and specialists.

Our country was represented by director of ANAS Institute of Economy, Professor Nazim Imanov and a leading researcher of the institute PhD in Economy Rufat Efendiyev.

During the event, international group including Rufat Efendiyev took second place in the contest "New Ideas".

Within three days of the summit, participants had an exchange of views on the improvement of the activities of government and state-owned enterprises, as well as the future of the governments. The event has been discussed a number of issues regarding the development of economy, finance, education, health, youth, technology, innovation, sustainable development, improvement of public services, as well as the interests of various sectors of society in relation to their residence.

Among the speakers were the Chairman of the World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab, executive director of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde, director of the UN Development Programme Helen Clark, the UN Secretary General Antonio Gutierrez, World Bank President Jim Yong Kim, Director General of UNESCO Irina Bokova, the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Suma Chakrabarti, the director of the IAEA Yukiya Amano, prime ministers and ministers of several countries, and heads of the leading companies in the world, eminent scientists, Nobel Prize winners.
