The next meeting of the Presidium of ANAS was held at the Institute of Law and Human Rights of ANAS on 22 February. First of all, the President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh handed over Honorary Diploma of ANAS, director of the Institute of Dendrology of the Academy, corresponding member of ANAS Tofig Mammadov on the occasion of its 60th anniversary.

At the event, Academician-Secretary of the Division of Social Sciences of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS Nargiz Akhundova made a report on "The state and perspective directions of further research in the social sciences." The scientist gave a presentation on the state of scientific research carried out in recent years in various fields of social sciences, and the prospects for development as well as the main scientific results obtained. Academician-secretary told about research in areas such as the study of the history and economy of Azerbaijan, legal science, social, political, socio-economic and cultural processes taking place in the country and in the Middle East, ethnic relations, and so on.

In order to increase the fruitfulness of the scientific activities of the institutes division was tasked with developing multidisciplinary programs and projects, to carry out joint activities to carry out personnel training in master's and doctoral research in promising areas.

At the meeting, the Presidency discussed the implementation of ANAS tasks stipulated in the Decree "On approval of the strategic road maps for the national economy and the main sectors of the economy", which was signed by President Ilham Aliyev December 6, 2016. Academician Akif Alizadeh noted that the strategic road maps that determine the way of formation of a qualitatively new model of economic development reflects the economic development strategy and action plan for the 2017-2020 biennium., And also look at the period up to 2025 and beyond. Academician said that, along with other government agencies, in the action plan for the implementation of the strategic road maps for the main sectors of the economy devoted to a certain place and ANAS.

After consideration adopted a resolution on the implementation of tasks in such priority areas as ensuring sustainable development in the country's economy in the current, next and long-term period, the formation of a qualitatively new model of economic development, to ensure the active participation of Russian science in the development of a chain of "science-education-production "and human capital in the country, etc. Relevant scientific institutions of ANAS, as well as a number of departments, offices and institutions under the Presidium was requested to discuss the tasks envisaged in the road maps for the main sectors of the economy, to take concrete measures in connection with the implementation of the Roadmap, to evaluate the development, discoveries and patents that are relevant to the economy countries, and to expand research in the relevant fields.

It approved the Regulations on the "Professor of ANAS" rank at the event. In his speech on this issue, Academician Akif Alizadeh noted that the academic title "Professor of ANAS" was established for the purpose of estimating the work of scientists of Azerbaijan, with important scientific achievements and outstanding achievements in the implementation of the main functions and tasks of ANAS for years.

The meeting was heard the annual report of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of ANAS. To make a presentation, the Chairman of the Board, Ph.D. in Physics Famin Salmanov said that in 2016 in ANAS were implemented comprehensive measures aimed at developing the intellectual potential of young people and even more of its involvement in scientific and organizational activities. He noted that over the past period of the work done to identify young people who differ in their knowledge and ability to ensure their activities in the social, cultural and social life of the country, as well as expansion of ties of young scientists with international research centers. The speaker spoke about the activities carried out for even more focused and productive involvement of the intellectual potential of young people to scientific activity.

After listening to the report discussions took place. Presidency gave a number of instructions in connection with such tasks as the further development of international ties of young scientists and specialists of ANAS, the expansion of activities aimed at the publication of their research results in journals that are included in such authoritative international scientific base as “Springer”, “Elsevier”, Scopus” and “Tomson Reuters”, conducting research of innovative nature, etc.

The event was also approved by the Annual Work Plan of the Council for 2017.

In conclusion, by the decision of the Presidium were made partial changes to the structure of the National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi. Departments for Public Relations and Press, Education, and "International Relations and museums of the world" were created by the museum.
