Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On March 24, a notable architect of Azerbaijan corresponding member of ANAS Jafar Ali oghlu Giyasi is 75 years old.

Jafar Giyasi was born on March 24, 1942 in Husne village of Ardabil. In 1961-66 he educated in Architecture faculty of Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute.

In 1967-1971, he held posts of architect, senior architect and group manager at the Azerbaijan Branch of All-Union Institute of Resorts Projecting.

J.Giyasi entered the full-time postgraduate study at the Institute of Architecture and Art of USSR Academy of Sciences in 1972, defended PhD thesis on "Tabriz Architecture School" (XIII-XVII centuries), in 1997 doctoral thesis on "Architect Khaje Shah Tabrizi (period and creativity)”, and became a professor in 2007. Notable scholar was elected an active member of the East Regional International Academy of Architecture in 1999 and a corresponding member of ANAS in 2001.

New research in the field of urban planning and architectural history and theory of architecture school of Tabriz research, extensive analysis of the international relations of the architects of medieval architectural monuments and UNESCO's World Heritage List in the construction of scientific management are his main achievements.

He is the author of book and monographs – “Absheron boylari”, "In the far and near lands" (on the international relations of Azerbaiajn architecture in the Middle Ages), "Eternal memory of the Karabakh heritage", "Nizami period architectural monuments", "Azerbaijan. Castles, palaces", and "Armenian culture of terror", as well as more than 250 academic articles.
