ANAS Sheki Regional Scientific Center made report on scientific-organizing activity for 2013 in a meeting of the Presidium of ANAS. Reporting in a meeting chairman of the center, Dr. geology-mineralogy Zakariyya Alizadeh stated that, important fulfillments have been carried out over breeding, biochemistry, biophysics, plant diversity of the gene pool, and geochemistry. 8 research works were carried out over 8 topics.

“In order to improve the efficiency of investigations, has been established relationship with the Institute of Ganja silk”. Morphological, chemical and biochemical characteristics of various kinds of cultivated and wild medicinal plants rolled in the territory of Sheki-Zagatala have been studied in order to reduce damage to wild herbs of the republic.

“Plant diversity of the gene pool” laboratory aims at enriching the gene pool garden with cultured and wild as well as fruit and berry crops in the territory of the region, also their protection and delivering to future generations. The new method of dying matter has been developed from root, stem, leaves and flowers of Amaranth plant in the Biophysics Laboratory.

Folklore and folk arts laboratory intends to publish book by name “Block names, offspring and nicknames in Aydinbulag, Dasha-ghil and Goynuk villages of Sheki”.

Currently, 90 almost individuals operate in the center composed of 6 Doctor of sciences, and 10 PhDs. In 2013, center employees have been published a book, 2 books were given for publication, and 27 scientific articles 11 theses (3 in abroad), said Z. Alizadeh.

After discussion of the report, ANAS Presidium made several decisions. Vital results of research works held by the center have been included into the annual report of ANAS.
