Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Today, at the Main building of ANAS, Institute of Linguistics hosted for a scientific conference devoted to 80th jubilee of well-known scientist and poetess, Dr. Philology, Professor Roza Eyvazova.

Opening the conference Academic-Secretary of ANAS Division of Humanities Academic Teymur Karimli stated that, having had exceptional merits in development of humanitarian sciences of Azerbaijan, R.Eyvazova’s almost 200 works are of great importance in terms of study history and onomastics of our language. T.Karimli noted that, scientist won fame as a professional linguist not only in Azerbaijan, but also beyond our country.

Then, Director of the Institute of Linguistics corresponding member of ANAS Mohsun Naghisoylu shared his memories about scientist. He said that, they got acquainted with her in 1982, Afghanistan, notwithstanding the war situation in the country R.Eyvazova assertively went on her scientific activity. M.Naghisoylu said that, though it was difficult to work on Kishveri’s divan, she coped with this work thanks to her language skills and personal qualities and penned a magnificent work as “A language of Kishveri’s Divan”. R.Eyvazova engaged in young staff training, and efficient academic activity in investigation of toponyms in Afghanistan with Turkic origin, history of Summerians, and languages of minorities in Azerbaijan.

At the conference, corresponding member of ANAS Nizami Jafarov and Acad. Vasim Mammadaliyev also reported and shared their memories about scientist.

Deputy Director of Science at the Institute of Linguistics, Ph.D in philology Assoc. Prof. Baba Maharramli delivered a lecture on “A live history of national linguistics”, a senior researcher of the institute Dr. Philology Prof. Ismayil Kazimov “A researcher of Kishveri language”, a leading researcher of the institute Ph.D in Philology Assoc. Prof. Sevinj Aliyeva “Scientist’s glorious life”.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Hungary Vilayat Guliyev’s letter to the R.Eyvazova has been read.

In closing, R.Eyvazova expressed her gratitude to the event organizers and attendees.
