On the occasion of the International Day of Intellectual Property was held a conference dedicated to awarding the winners of the "IV Republican Contest for Achievements in the Field of Invention" on the topic "Innovation Potential in Azerbaijan" on April 26.
At the event, Chairman of the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patent Ramiz Hasanov noted that, one of the topical issues is the preparation of activity plans and government programs that stimulate the promotion of innovations in Azerbaijan.
The chairman of the committee noted that, on April 17 of this year at the republican meeting of non-oil exporters President Ilham Aliyev stated once again that after this transition to a new economic model the economy of the country will develop due to reforms, innovations, technologies and non-oil sector. Our country's participation in international organizations in the field of intellectual property rights allows local entrepreneurs to provide more flexible and useful services.
R.Hasanov noted that, according to the Decree signed by the head of state on February 10 of this year, the management in the field of protection of quality infrastructure objects and patents was improved, along with the structures rendering services to the metrology, standardization and accreditation fields, a public legal entity was established Center for Patents and Trademarks. With the newly created center, a department for the transfer and commercialization of technologies was established.
Then ANAS President, Academician Akif Alizadeh, spoke about the opportunities for increasing the competitiveness of the economies of countries at the global and regional levels, with the encouragement of areas that prefer qualifications in international markets and develop the potential for innovation. He said that, it is required to see in advance the results of the activities of research organizations and institutions in the modern period and to predict the feasibility of implementation in industry.

At the event, the chairman of the State Agency for Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Inam Kerimov said that, the ASAN service centers, functioning with the application of the latest advances in information and communication technologies in our country, helped to establish relations between the citizen and the state at a new level, Most importantly, to achieve civil satisfaction.
First Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Ali Abdullayev emphasized that, State Fundation for the Development of Information Technologies is operating under the Ministry to support innovative entrepreneurship. The Fundation in 3 directions implements state support of innovative projects.
At the event also acted rector of the Baku State University, Academician Abel Maharramov and deputy chairman of the State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources Nurali Yusifbeyli, general director of the Center for Patents and Trademarks Gyunel Sevdimaliyeva.
Further winners of the IV Republican competition were awarded for achievements in the field of invention. It was noted that, 49 patents for inventions that had passed state registration in 2016 were submitted by patent holders for participation in the tender. The winners are determined by the Bid Evaluation Committee from the representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Baku State University, ANAS Institute of Additive Chemistry, Ministry of Defense Industry and other leading scientific organizations.
According to the results of the contest, the inventions "Method for obtaining high dispersed metallic dust", "Photosensitive material", "Method for obtaining thinsonite type zeolite" were awarded incentive prizes, inventions -"Desalination method of sea water", "Well filter" etc. -3rd place.
"Motor oil for diesel locomotives and industrial diesel engines", "Method of monitoring the activity of the cardiovascular system of the respiratory tract", etc. - II place, and the invention "The method of sanitation and installation of aircraft and other vehicles' salons" was declared the "Patent of the Year".
The winners were awarded diplomas and prizes.
