Employees of ANAS Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of Imishli region discovered an ancient settlement of 2500 years old.
During the excavations conducted in Zilitepe, covering an area of 4 hectares, a human skeleton, a pipe made of clay, arrows, a set of swords, coins, faience dishes and animal bones were found.
It is reported that the found historical monuments date back to the era of Alexander the Great.
It is also noted that, Zilitepe has a connection with the previously discovered ancient settlements of Muhurtepe, Giziltepe and Bahramtepe.
