Today, an event dedicated to the 70th jubilee of the Vice-President of ANAS, Director of the Institute of Oil and Gas, Academician Ibrahim Guliyev was held at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics.

At the conference, President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh spoke about the life and rich scientific activity of the scientist. It was noted that I.Guliyev is a prominent scientist in the field of geology and geochemistry of natural gases, oil and gas fields and mud volcanism. Under the supervision of and with the participation of the scientist, original studies of the gas regime of folded regions with a quantitative assessment of the scale of the removal of carbon-containing gases and their distribution in the surface atmosphere are performed. For the first time in cooperation with German colleagues formulated scientific and technological principles and organized a long-term monitoring of the telemetry output of gases from the mud volcanoes of Azerbaijan, set the frequency of their changes over time, depending on the geological and cosmic factors.

Head of ANAS emphasized that the scientist and his colleagues conducted a classic study of isotope-geochemical composition products eruptions of mud volcanoes, rocks, oil, gas and water, create a directory eruptions detailing largest paroxysms, evaluation of volumes dedicated breccia, gas, water and oil. I.Guliyev has priority in the discovery and geological and geochemical study of submarine mud volcanoes and mud volcanic gas hydrates in the Caspian Sea.

Noting that merits of I.Guliyev also appreciated by the state, Academician A. Alizadeh said that for effective research and teaching activities, scientist was awarded the honorary title "Honored Worker of Science" and the Azerbaijan Republic State Prize. The head of ANAS congratulated I.Guliyev on awarding the Order "Shohrat" on the order of the President of the country Ilham Aliyev on May 22, 2017 and wished him successes in his further activity. He also expressed deep gratitude to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, for the high evaluation of I. Guliyev's activity.

The President of ANAS noted that the glory of a scientist who adequately represented Azerbaijani science in a number of countries of the world went beyond the borders of the country.

Academician A. Alizadeh stressed that the merits of the scientist in training scientific personnel are also worthy of attention. He said that under his leadership, 10 doctors of philosophy and 2 doctors of sciences were trained. He is the author of more than 220 scientific works, including 10 monographs published in Azerbaijan and foreign countries.

Addressing the event, Deputy Director for Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Oil and Gas Problems, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences V.Bogoyavlensky, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Doctor of Technical Sciences Azizkhan Shahverdiyev, member of the Academy of Natural Sciences, the head of the Department of Scientific Bases of Prospecting and Exploration of Oil and Gas of the Russian State University of Oil and Gas named after Gubkin, Doctor of geological-mineralogical sciences, Professor Vagif Kerimov and Academician-Secretary of Department of Earth Sciences, Academic Fakhraddin Gadirov, Academics - Arif Ismayilzade, Hatam Guliyev, Parviz Mammadov, Akbar Feyzullayev and others spoke about the achievements of scientists in the fields of geology of oil and gas fields and mud volcanoes, and its contribution to the Azerbaijani science, congratulated on the 70th jubilee. The speakers shared pleasant memories about the scientist, told about his noble human qualities.
