The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic is a glorious page of our history. It is wrong to oppose our historical figures, including the figures of the Republic, to represent them to our people as they are.

Director of ANAS Institute of History, Academician Yagub Mahmudov acted at the conference "Azerbaijan's state independence is eternal, irreversible" on May 28 - Day of the Republic.

At the conference, Y. Makhmudov, stressing that, Azerbaijan has a 5-thousand-year history of statehood, noted that, Azerbaijan is the birthplace of Turkism. And when it comes to the founder of Turkism, name of Alibek Huseynzade should be mentioned first.

Director of the Institute noted that, for the first time the idea of a tri-color flag originated in Azerbaijan. The formula of Ali bey Huseynzade "Turkification, Islamization, modernization" was reflected in the colors of the national flag during the period of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

Noting that, despite the martial law, Azerbaijan is the leading state in the South Caucasus, the academician stated that the Azerbaijani people created the most democratic republic of peace, the East and the Turkic world.

The head of the Executive Power of the Surakhani District Ilgar Abbasov, the deputy of Milli Majlis Aghajan Abiyev also spoke at the conference.
