ANAS Institute of Natural Resources of the Nakhchivan Division and the Nakhchivan Cement Plant held the scientific and practical conference on "Theoretical and Practical Basis for the Production of Gypsum, Cement and Lime Based on Local Mineral Raw Materials".

Before the start of the event, held by the Nakhchivan Cement Plant, scientists and specialists of the Institute of Natural Resources got acquainted with the working conditions of the plant's laboratories, the equipment installed there and the analysis of cement samples.

Director of the Institute, correspondent member of ANAS Aliaddin Abbasov, who opened the event, spoke about the local mineral raw material used in the production of cement, which plays an important role in the country's economic development. A.Abbasov said that, non-metallic minerals and building materials occupy an important place on the overall balance of the mineral and raw materials resources of Nakhchivan.

At the conference, Head of the Laboratory of Hydrogeology and Mineral Waters, Ph.D in Chemistry Fizza Mammadova delivered report on "From the History of Cement Production", Head of the Laboratory of Chemistry and Technology of Mineral Raw Materials, Ph.D. in Chemistry, Associate Professor Gorkhmaz Huseynov on "Natural Materials for Cement Production in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic ", Doctor of Chemistry Bayram Rzayev on "Obtaining gypsum and materials on a gypsum base".

The scientists told about the history of the production of cement, its types and deposits of raw materials Chahrichay, Lizbirt and Salazyuz located in the autonomous republic. It was noted that the reserves of the Chakhrichay deposit, rich in raw materials in the form of calcareous marl are about 30 thousand tons, while the reserve of Lizbirt in C1 category is 16 million 386 thousand tons.

At the end of the conference, the production process in the Nakhchivan cement plant was visually demonstrated.
