Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On July 11, president of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, academician Akif Alizadeh received the delegation led by Artukbek Yusupov, chairman of the State Committee for Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The delegation also included Mufti Usmonhon Alimov, chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, Mohammed Shakirov, the head of International Relations Department of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan and Rustam Jalilov, head of the Department of the Muslims of Uzbekistan.

Speaking about the history and development path passing ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh spoke about research in the field of geology, physics, chemistry, information technology, paleontology, humanities and social sciences, mud volcanoes, oil and gas fields and other promising areas of Azerbaijani science and cooperation of ANAS with authoritative scientific centers of the world. Academy closely cooperates with the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, holds joint international conferences on the interrelations of science and religion, scientist notified.

Speaking about the activity of the Azerbaijani High Technologies Park, created with the support of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, academician Akif Alizadeh said that in recent years various innovative projects have been implemented at ANAS aimed at the commercialization of science.

Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh, chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, underlined presidential decree of declaring 2017 as "Year of Islamic Solidarity" in the republic, and stressed that there were never any problems in Azerbaijan on religious, national and other differences and mutual cooperation between the relevant state structures is aimed at the further preservation of the existing situation.

Speaking about the development of political, economic, scientific and cultural ties between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, Mubariz Gurbanli, chairman of State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, expressed confidence for further development of cooperation between the relevant organizations of both countries.

Artukbek Yusupov, head of the delegation, thanked the leadership of ANAS for the warm reception and noted that the purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the activity of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan and stressed the need for sharing experience and knowledge. Organization of the Center for Islamic Culture is planned in Uzbekistan, and we are very interested in Azerbaijan's experience in this field, the guest underlined.

Artukbek Yusupov invited the leadership of ANAS to participate in an international conference on issues of Islamic solidarity planned for October of this year.

The meeting was also attended by academician Isa Habibbeyli, vice president of ANAS, Teymur Kerimli, academician-secretary of the Department of Humanitarian Sciences of ANAS, academician Nargiz Akhundova, academician-secretary of the Department of Social Sciences of ANAS, and Zulfugar Farzaliyev, head of the Public Relations and Popularization Department.
