Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

An event dedicated to prominent chemist, honored scientist, creator of the Scientific Research Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry and Environmental Protection of Baku State University, Academician Rafiga Aliyeva’s 85th anniversary was held at Baku State University (BSU) on September 20.

First of all, participants of the event visited the Alley of Honors to commemorate the memory of academician Rafiga Aliyeva and laid wreaths and roses in front of her grave.

Then national leader of our people, the architect and founder of modern independent state Heydar Aliyev was commemorated and flowers were laid in front of his grave.

Rector of Baku State University, academician Abel Maharramov spoke about the effectiveness of the outstanding scientist R. Aliyeva, great scientist's contribution to the development of chemistry in our country.

A.Maharramov emphasized that the scientist had created a scientific school, devoted all her life to chemical science, and noted that R. Aliyeva spent most of her life in the training of qualified cadres at BSU and created a unity of science and education.

President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizade said that Rafiga Aliyeva, who made a valuable contribution to the Azerbaijani science, always holds the title of educator. R. Aliyeva, who is a perfect contemporary of Azerbaijani intelligence, has been active in the socio-political life of our country, in the scientific and pedagogical environment. Under her leadership, significant scientific researches were carried out, more than twenty philosophy and doctor of sciences were trained. The scientist was the author of more than 450 scientific works, 25 textbooks and teaching aids, and 20 patents, academician notified.

Despite her lifetime and activity with Baku State University, Rafiga khanum has always been related to the academy and had special role in Azerbaijani science, A.Alizade expressed.

Education Minister Mikayil Jabbarov, Chairperson of the State Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs Hijran Huseynova, academician Vasim Mammadaliyev and other speakers shared their memories about outstanding scientist, spoke about his rich scientific activity and high moral qualities.
