"Outstanding Azerbaijani folklorist Mammadhuseyn Tahmasib" conference, devoted to the 110th anniversary of Mammadhuseyn Tahmasib, was held at the Main building of ANAS.
The event was organized by Nizami Literature and Folklore Institutes.
Speaking at the conference, Director of the Institute of Folklore, Academician Mukhtar Imanov spoke about Mammadhuseyn Takhmasib’s works in the field of national folklore. It was noted that, the deceased scientist had important achievements in the field of collecting, systematizing and studying the folklore of Azerbaijan. Calling the work of the scientist "Folk dastans of Azerbaijan (medieval)" a masterpiece of his literary activity, M.Imanov emphasized that, M.Tahmasib was the first to give a scientific and theoretical classification of dastans.
Noting that, the scientist was also engaged in literary and artistic activities, the director of the Institute brought to the attention that he wrote scripts for such famous films as "Gachag Nabi", "The Mystery of One Fortress," " Is it possible to forgive him?". His plays "Bahar", "Lion's Lair" and others were staged in theaters.
Then, Vice-President of ANAS, Director of the Institute of Literature after Nizami, Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted the great merits of Mammadhuseyn Tahmasib in the education of the generation of folklorists.
At the event the rector of the Azerbaijan University of Languages, Academician Kamal Abdullayev noted that, the scientific works of the late scientist domestic folklore was enriched, the film M.Tahmasib "Is it possible to forgive him?" In the Azerbaijani literature included the concept of "Guilt".
At the conference were listened reports of the corresponding member of ANAS Kamran Aliyev on "School of Mammadhuseyn Tahmasib", Doctor of Philology, Professor Maharram Gasimli on "Ancient Leader of our folklore caravan", Doctor of Philology, Professor Tahira Mammad on "Conceptual view on the problem of traditions and ceremonies in Mammadhuseyn Tahmasib’s studies”, etc. The reports dealt with the scientific activity of M.Tahmasib, and it was scrawled that, the scholarly works of the scientist-folklorist remained relevant to this day.
The event continued its work at the sessions of the sections.
