President of ANAS attends international conference “Islamic solidarity: on the example of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan”

An international conference titled  “Islamic solidarity: on the example of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan” was held in Tashkent on October18.

Members of the Milli Majlis, well-known figures of science, culture and religious figures of Turkey attended the conference, organized by the State Committee for Religious Associations, the Caucasus Muslims Office, the Religious Affairs Committee under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan and the Uzbek Muslims Office. The delegation includes Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office Sheikh-ul-islam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Mubariz Gurbanli, President of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Associations and Religious Organizations Siyavush Novruzov, Chairman of the Committee on Agrarian Policy, head of Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan working group on interparliamentary relations Eldar Ibrahimov, editor-in-chief of "Yeni Azerbaijan" newspaper, deputy Hikmet Babaoglu, deputy Javanshir Pashazade and others. At first, the adviser of the President of Uzbekistan Alisher Sultanov read the appeal of the head of state Shavkat Mirziyayev to conference participants.

Speaking at the event, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade expressed his satisfaction with the holding of this event at the "Islamic Solidarity Anniversary", announced by President Ilham Aliyev. Uzbekistan, as part of the Islamic world, contributed to the development of Islamic civilization, this conference proves that Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are loyal to the ideas of Islamic solidarity, including the traditions of intercultural dialogue. The foundation of relations between independent Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan was laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev and First President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov. The presidents Ilham Aliyev and Shavkat Mirziyayev successfully continue this relationship today. Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are confidently stepping forward, Sheikhulislam emphasized.

Later, Mubariz Gurbanli read the appeal of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to conference participants.

The appeal states that Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, playing an important role in the Muslim Renaissance, have made an invaluable contribution to the development of various cultures, religions and religions as a unifying bridge between the East and the West.

Speaking at the international conference, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Associations and Religious Organizations Siyavush Novruzov said that the principles of tolerance and multiculturalism from the historical past of our people are reflected in the legislation of our country. He noted that the parliament adopted laws "On religious freedom", "On combating religious extremism".

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee noted that the contribution of our peoples to the Islamic civilization can be seen in the work of great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi, Azerbaijani scientist Nasiraddin Tusi, genius Uzbek poet Alisher Navoiy, famous scientist and statesman Mirza Ulghaber.

Speaking at the event, head of the Agrarian Policy Committee of the Milli Majlis, head of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Interparliamentary Relations Working Group Eldar Ibrahimov said that Azerbaijan acts as a supporter of Islamic solidarity all over the world.

Islamic solidarity today is an important task for the Islamic world. Islamic solidarity is one of the crucial conditions for peace and harmony not only in Muslim countries, but all over the world. One of the main directions of the state policy of Azerbaijan is to unite the Muslim world on a common ground and to act in a unified position. We must solve the problems between the Muslim countries peacefully and strengthen our solidarity, Gurbanli lined out.

Later, academician Akif Alizadeh, president of ANAS, said that representatives of different religions live in peace in our country, and International Center for Multiculturalism successfully operates in Baku. Future generations should not become victims of religious fanaticism. In this regard, first of all, we are responsible scientists and theologians. Not only Islamic scholars, but also historians, orientalists, and even accurate fundamentalists must be active in this work, A.Alizade noted.

After the break, the conference continued with panel discussions. Reports on "Religion and social co-operation", "State-religion relations in Azerbaijan", "Challenges of tolerance in the modern world: past and present", "Role of religion in formation of tolerance", "Problems of tolerance in modern Islamic world view" were listened.

At the end of the conference, the communiqué was adopted.
