ANAS main building held presentation of books "Bible history" (author is Archimandrite Venedikt) and "Orthodox catechism" (author is I.Glukhov).
The event was held by the organization of ANAS Institute of Linguistics, State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of the Azerbaijan Republic and Baku and Azerbaijan Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The editions were translated into the Azerbaijani language by the head of the Department of Sociolinguistics and language policy of the Institute of Linguistics, Doctor of Philology, prof. Mail Askerov and published by the Public Association of the Society of the Memory of Taisia Abbess, functioning in the St. Petersburg, Russia.
The ceremony was attended by the archbishop of the Baku and Azerbaijan Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, Alexander Ishein, who noted that, Azerbaijan is a tolerant and multicultural country. He stressed that, the translation of these publications into the Azerbaijani language is the embodiment of giving high marks to Christianity in our country.
Then, chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Mubariz Gurbanli noted in his speech that, Azerbaijan is located at the crossroads of various civilizations. Stressed that, samples of culture materials were built during the period of Zoroastrianism and Christianity in our country preserved to this day.
Speaking at the event, Director of the Institute of Linguistics, Academician Naghisoylu Mohsun noted that, representatives of various religions and peoples historically live in peace and solidarity in our country and this comes from nature, hospitality of the Azerbaijani people and the Islamic religion.
Recalling the announcement of the Year of Multiculturalism in Azerbaijan in 2016 by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Year of Islamic Solidarity in 2017, Academician brought to the attention that, these values turned into the state policy of Azerbaijan.
Further, author of the publications Mail Askerov, who brought to the attention that the first part of the book "Biblical History" gives general information about Ahti-Atig (Əhdi-Ətiq), and the second part is devoted to the presentation of Ahti-Jadid (Əhdi-Cadidi) and the events and facts that occur around Jesus Christ.
Informing about the book "Orthodox Catechism", M. Askerov noted that in the new edition, along with questions concerning the Christian religion, the disclosure of the concepts of the Holy Trinity and the Church is given, etc.
The scientist said that, there are few sources about Christianity in the Azerbaijani language, including Orthodoxy and these publications will fill this gap. He said that these books will give impetus to the further development of Azerbaijani-Russian friendly relations.
The event was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin, head of the Public Association of the Society of the Memory of the Abbess of Taisia, Hieromonk Alexander Faut, Chairman of the Scientific Commission on International Relations of the St. Petersburg State University, Professor of the Department of World Politics Olga Lvovna Serpskaya, Professor of the Human Psychology Department Marianna Dvoretskaya, Russian State Pedagogical University and talked about the importance of translation of publications.
