A roundtable on "National constitution: our past and future" dedicated to the Constitution Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held at the Institute of Science History of ANAS.

The event started with a national anthem.

Then, director of the institute, Doctor of History Maryam Seyidbeyli said that building a legal and democratic state in the 1990s was one of the major challenges facing independent Azerbaijan. She pointed out that the old Soviet law did not meet modern values ​​and that the issue of establishing the first constitution of independent Azerbaijan in the end of 1994 and early 1995 was on the agenda. He noted that the special commission chaired by the great leader Heydar Aliyev put forward a serious consideration of the historical value of the universal values ​​and the people's history in the constitutional draft.

The Director said that the Supreme Document is the legal beginning and foundation of the reforms carried out in the country and the present achievements of Azerbaijan.

The chief scientific officer of the institute, Doctor of Law Zaur Mammadov made a report on "Progressive changes to the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan on September 26, 2016" and PhD on sociology Saadat Mammadova on "The development history of the Constitution".

At the end, a film dedicated to the 12 November - Constitution Day was screened.
