Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

Deputy Director for Scientific Work of ANAS Institute of the History of Science, PhD in Theology Sabina Neymatzadeh attended at the IX International Congress of Turkic Folk Culture held in Turkey.

Azerbaijani scientist presided over the Department of Material Culture of an international event organized by the Department of Research and Education of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey in 1974 and held every five years.

Speaking at the congress with the report on "Elements of national identity and Turkism in the carpet art of Azerbaijn" S.Neymatzadeh noted that, her research was carried out within the framework of the grant project "Ideology of Azerbaijanism: tradition and modernity", implemented with the financial support of the Science Development Foundation under the President of Azerbaijan Republic. The reporter spoke about the scientific research conducted in the field of study, research and propaganda of the Azerbaijani carpet art in the world, and brought to the attention that Azerbaijani carpets are displayed in the most famous museums in the world.

Noting that, November 10, 2010 carpet art of Azerbaijan was included in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO, S. Neymatzadeh stressed that, carpet art and carpet weaving are the contribution of our people to the world culture.

During the report on the monitor, the process of carpet weaving was visually brought to the attention of the participants of the event.

The report of the Azerbaijani scientist aroused great interest of the participants of the event.

In conclusion, S.Neymatzadeh was awarded a certificate of thanks by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey.
