Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

An international scientific-technical conference on "Natural disasters and safety of life activity" has started in Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction (AUAC) on 4 December.

The event was attended by specialists of ANAS, Ministry of Emergency Situations and other state bodies, local and foreign research institutes and higher education institutions.

Arif Sharifov, vice-rector for science and technology of the university, said the conference was attended by about 200 experts from 17 countries. The results of the conference, the recommendations on the subject will be included as a crucial step in the field of life safety in natural disasters.

Then, a member of the Presidium of the International Academy of Ecology and Life Safety, Academician Gennadiy Rodin, presented the diplomas and badges to the rector of AUAC, Professor Gulchohira Mammadova and laboratory assistant of the Institute of Radiation Problems, corresponding member of ANAS Islam Mustafayev.

Director of Republican Seismic Survey Center, correspondent member of ANAS Gurban Yetirishli mad a report on "Strong earthquakes in Azerbaijan".

The event continued in sections "Natural Disasters and Their Impacts", "Safety of Life Activity", "Climate Change and Ecological Risks".

The conference is to finish December 6.
