III Republican scientific-practical seminar on "Actual problems of information security"

On December 8, 2017 at the Institute of Information Technologies of ANAS held III Republican scientific-practical seminar on "Actual problems of information security".

The event was opened by ANAS Academician-Secretary, Director of the Institute, Academician Rasim Alguliyev. The scientist underlined the significance of the seminar in terms of highlighting the existing problems in the field of information security and drawing public attention to these issues. He noted that, with the formation of the information society and electronic state in Azerbaijan, the development of information technologies, and the introduction of the knowledge economy to a new stage, the information security component became more relevant in the society.

Stressing the need for an integrated approach to information security, Academician R.Aliguliyev brought to the attention that the Institute provides scientific support to the activities carried out in this direction in the country, that studies are under way to address various problems of information security. He noted that have been studied the scientific and theoretical foundations of the problems of ensuring information security.

Then, Deputy Director for technology, Ph.D. in technology, associate professor Rashid Alakparov delivered a report on "The main activities of the AzScienceNet scientific computer network on information security". The scientist informed about the infrastructure of AzScienceNet, the policy of using AzScienceNet, the technical capabilities of the Data Center. He brought to the attention that, the speed of connecting the network to the Internet is 1.41 Gb / s, the calculation speed is 17 Tflops, the amount of external memory is 400 Tbyte. He also stressed that, along with almost 40 institutes and organizations of ANAS, 14 universities of the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan use the services of AzScienceNet.

R.Alakparov also brought to attention the requirements for the creation, management of information resources of scientific institutions and organizations of ANAS and the requirements for placement in the AzScienceNet Data Center, as well as an action plan to expand and improve the activities in the field of information security.

Corresponding member of ANAS, Head of the Department of the Institute, Professor Masuma Mammadova delivered a report on "Internet of Things" in electronic medicine: opportunities and risks". She informed about the "Internet of things" and its fields of application in medicine, the "Internet of things" programs in high-risk objects, the offshore oil platform, the era of the "Internet of Things" in future medicine, smart hospitals, smart clothes and other technologies.

Corresponding member of ANAS, head of Department of the institute, Doctor of Technical Sciences Ramiz Aliguliyev delivered a report on "Development of methods and algorithms for ensuring information security in the Big Data environment". He informed on methods based on clustering for detecting anomalies in large data, hybrid classification methods for detecting DoS attacks, methods and approaches proposed to identify threats to national security in a social networking environment. He told that, comparing these methods with other known methods, experimental results showed that new approaches and methods are more effective.

Speaking on the topic "Problems of training personnel in the field of cybersecurity" head of the Department of the Institute, Ph.D. in Engineering, associate professor Yadigar Imamverdiyev, noted that, cybersecurity is a priority issue for all countries. He noted that, one of the key elements of the solution to this problem is the training of highly qualified specialists in the field of cybersecurity, the application of their knowledge in real time and the ability to respond quickly to the demands of the time.

The speaker noted that, were analyzed the programs in the field of computer science of leading universities in several countries and stressed that, there are problems in the training of subjects on cybersecurity in universities. In addition, he voiced a number of proposals for training highly qualified personnel, further intensifying scientific research, and strengthening coordination between the relevant bodies in this field.

Then, the event continued its work by section meetings in the direction "Actual problems of information security" and "Information security in the Big Data environment". At the meeting were listening reports on "Conceptual model of the system that provides information security of children on the Internet", "Security issues in mobile cloud computing", "The method of automatic detection of contradictory articles in Wikipedia", "Problems of the formation of an international coalition on information security" and other topics.
