Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

ANAS Division of Social Sciences held a general meeting on December 28.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli, vice-president of ANAS, said that the 100th anniversary of the founding of the APR in 2018 will be widely celebrated at the state level. In connection with the execution of the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On the 100th Anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic" dated May 16, 2017, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan assigned to the institutes of the organization to prepare the works of the members of the Parliament, as well as the life and activities of young people sent abroad for study.

Academician also said that 95th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev will be celebrated in 2018.

Then, academician-secretary of the department, academician Nargiz Akhundova said that in the current year, 9 scientific directions, 113 themes on 32 issues and 305 research works were carried out. He said that 1772 works were published by the department institutes, 159 books, 1269 were articles and 344 were theses. N.Akhundova noted that 12 books, 334 articles and 58 thesis were published abroad.

He said that 39 articles in the section were published in impressive magazines, and that 1,300 applications were made in the current year.

N.Akhundova reported that the department held 16 international and 18 republican conferences in the reporting year.

Then the reports of the institutes were listened.

Director of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, academician Naila Valikhanli said that 22 studies on 5 issues were covered in 4 issues in the reporting year. During the academic year, 1261 excursions were held in the museum, 17,500 people visited the museum exposition. During the reporting period, 16 employees of the museum participated in 2 republican and 17 international scientific forums. N. Valikhanli said that 61 articles, 29 reports and 2 theses of the museum staff were published this year, and 7 of them were published in impact factor magazines.

Director of the Institute of History, acad. Yagub Mahmudov said that 43 reports on 4 issues were conducted in the reporting year. In the current academic year, 58 publications of the Institute's staff, more than 275 articles have been published.

Then Director of the Institute of Philosophy, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Ilham Mammadzadeh said that during the reporting period, 2 scientific directions, 3 problems and 117 scientific research works on 9 subjects were conducted. He said 17 monographs (2 abroad), 1 book, 2 textbooks, 1 brochure and 237 articles were published this year by the institute. Scientist noted that 7 out of 68 articles published abroad were published in impressive magazines.

Then, director of the Institute of Economics, Professor of Economics, Professor Nazim Imanov said that in 2017 the company published 311 scientific articles and thesis, 80 of which were published abroad.

Director of the Institute of History, Doctor of History Maryam Seyidbeyli said that 16 monographs, 29 articles (11 of them abroad) were published this year.

Then, Director of the Institute of Law and Human Rights, Doctor of Law Ayten Mustafazade said that during the reporting year, 1 direction, 6 problems, 14 issues, 24 jobs and 14 stages were continued. According to the scientist this year, 5 books, 9 monographs, 125 articles (31 in abroad), 21 dissertations (10 abroad) were published by the staff of the institute.

He said that the institute cooperated with UNESCO bodies, the Social Sciences Academy of the People's Republic of China, and the Academy of Modern International Relations, the Moldova Academy of Sciences and other organizations.

Then, director of the Institute of Caucasus Studies, correspondent member of ANAS Musa Gasimly said that in the reporting year 1 scientific direction and 13 works on 5 themes were implemented. The scientist noted that this year 4 books and monographs of the Institute staff and 42 articles (24 abroad) were published. M.Gasimli said that employees represent our country in 47 international conferences in 2017.

Director of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, Doctor of Historical Sciences Maisa Rahimova said that the research on "Archeological Study of Gabala and its surrounding area" was held this year.

The scientist also noted that the book "Ethnographic features of Germans living in Azerbaijan" is being prepared.

Discussions were held after the reports were listened.

The meeting also heard proposals on "Approval of the Statute of Presidium award of ANAS for effective activity in the field of science popularization".

In addition, it was decided to hold the 60th anniversary of the Institute of Oriental Studies.

At the end a number of current issues were considered.
