An interactive lesson on the history of the Nakhchivan khanate

An interactive lesson on "Establishement of khanates in Azerbaijan: Nakhchivan Khanate" was organized by the Nakhchivan Division of ANAS and Ministry of Education of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Leading researcher at Modern and Contemporary Department of the Institute of History, Ethnography and Archeology, PhD in history Musa Guliyev gave pupils extensive information about the Nakhchivan khanate, territorial division, management system, state attributes, army building, diplomatic relations and Turkmenchay treaty. He said that the khanate was founded in 1747 by Heydargulu khan from the Kangarli tribe.

Musa Guliyev noted that the center of the khanate is located on the trade routes of the Nakhchivan city from Middle and Near East countries to Russia and Europe, and ultimately it is the target of many countries. The scientist said that historical facts prove that the Nakhchivan and Iravan khanates are ancient Azerbaijani lands.

He said that the comprehensive investigation of the history of the Nakhchivan khanate started from the time when national leader Heydar Aliyev headed the country (since 1969).

The interactive lesson was generally monitored at 215 general schools in the autonomous republic.
