ANAS Nakhchivan Division held next reporting session on February 14.

At the meeting was organized a teleconference with ANAS Nakhchivan Division.

The chairman of ANAS Nakhchivan Division, academician Ismail Hajiyev delivered a report reflecting the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the department in 2017. He noted that, in accordance with the plan approved by the Presidium of ANAS for the research work, new scientific requirements were presented, the history, culture, literature, folklore, art, natural resources, flora and fauna, and the soil cover of Nakhchivan were systematically studied. He stressed that, in the reporting year 11 decrees and orders of the head of state, 16 resolutions and orders of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 23 decrees, dismissals and resolutions of the Supreme Council of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and 6 orders and decrees of ANAS were implemented in the department.

Citing statistical data on important results, I.Hajiyev reported that, in the department at 79 stages, 34 works were completed, covering 6 scientific directions, 6 problems and 7 topics. In 2017 33 monographs, 17 books, 2 atlases, 2 textbooks, 1 pamphlet, 1 methodical manual, 767 scientific works as a whole, 515 scientific articles, 190 conference materials and 6 theses were published. 165 scientific works were published abroad, including 1 monograph, 1 book, 90 scientific articles, 72 conference proceedings and 1 thesis. In journals with impact factor were published 45 scientific articles.

Academician spoke about the applied activities carried out in the scientific institutions of the department: "Production conditions have been created for obtaining dry residues from arsenic water from Daridag and extensive scientific research was conducted to obtain 3 compounds from alumina rocks. In the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 27 useful plant species, including fodder, medicinal plants, extracting essential oils, dyeing, ornamental garden, honey, wild edible plants, tannic, fibrous, gum, plants containing gyukosides, alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, vitamins, cosmetic plants, etc. Certificates have been obtained for the manufacture in the laboratory of the Institute of Bioresources of mixtures from dried medicinal plants dried in sterile conditions. On the basis of special recipes from medicinal plants mixtures were made, packages with which were transferred to the "Green Pharmacy" departments and some pharmacies operating in the Autonomous Republic.

Speaking about the integration of science and education he stressed that, in accordance with Decree of the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic "On the Organization of Links between Secondary Schools and Scientific Institutions, Higher and Secondary Educational Institutions of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic", 54 graduated research scientists took part in demonstration lessons, organized in 38 secondary schools of the Autonomous Republic, and 11 employees conducted interactive lessons.

The speaker also spoke about international cooperation and grants. He noted that last year the institute's branches cooperated with scientific and educational institutions of the USA, France, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Iran and other countries. Informing that 2 grant projects of the republican level have been completed, he added that measures are continuing for 1 grant project of international and 3 grant projects of the republican level.

Speaking about the state of electronic science, the academician noted that last year on the electronic portal of the branch (www.ameanb.nakhchcivan.az) information about important events, interesting events and other information were posted. During the year, electronic versions of 227 books related to various scientific branches were created in the Scientific Library of the department.

I.Hajiyev informed that in the reporting year the activities in the field of personnel training also continued, 1 member of the department received the scientific degree of Doctor of Science, 7 - Ph.D., and 2 - the academic title of Associate Professor. He noted that, at present 23 doctoral candidates and 26 dissertators continue their studies in the department.

Speaking about awards and prizes, the speaker said that, according to the relevant order of the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the Nakhchivan History Award prepared by employees of the multi-volume section "History of Nakhchivan" was awarded in 2017 by the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in the field of science, and the book by Corresponding Member of ANAS G. Gadirzadeh "Peace and Man: the End of the Beginning, the Beginning of the End" was awarded the Chairman of the Supreme Council. At the same time, some employees of the department were awarded with national and international prizes.

After listening to the report, discussions took place, answers to the questions were voiced. The Presidium adopted a resolution approving the report and including it in the annual report of ANAS. The department was given instructions in connection with such issues as the implementation of relevant activities aimed at fulfilling the tasks set in the presidential decree "On the Declaration of the City of Nakhchivan as the Capital of Islamic Culture", as well as carrying out the work envisaged in the Action Plan for the Implementation of President Ilham Aliyev's Orders "On the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic" and "On the 100th anniversary of the genocide of Azerbaijanis in 1918", etc.
