Memorial events and round tables dedicated to the 26th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide were held at the Institute of Literature, Linguistics, History of Science, Mathematics and Mechanics, Biophysics, Physiology, Soil Science and Agrochemistry of ANAS.

The meetings noted that, on February 25-26, 1992, the Armenian Armed Forces committed a terrible genocide against the Azerbaijanis in Khojaly by the help of the 366th motorized regiment of Russia. The city was burned and as a result 1275 civilians were captured and taken hostage, and 613 were killed, including 63 infants, 70 women and 8 families were killed in the blockade of Khojaly.

The Great Leader Heydar Aliyev gave a Special Decree on March 1, 1994 on the Khojaly tragedy and declared February 26 as "Khojaly genocide and national mourning day".

At the same time, it was emphasized that our army is always able to take revenge for our compatriots and liberate our lands from the enemy, and the April of 2016 are an example of this.
