Presentation of the Nakhchivan dialectical atlas of Azerbaijani language was held in Nakhchivan Division of ANAS with the Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi.
Opening the event, the head of the department, acad. Ismail Hajiyev, took note of the stages of development of our language and said that our native language is the greatest national wealth of our people.
Speaking about the reforms held in our country for the protection and purity of Azerbaijani language, centuries-old traditions of our people, the scientist talked emphasized the historical services of national leader Heydar Aliyev for protecting our language.
Academician I.Hajiyev lined out "State Program on the use of Azerbaijani language in accordance with the requirements of time in the conditions of globalization and the development of linguistics in the country" approved by the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated 9 April 2013. Nakhchivan dialectological atlas of Azerbaijani language has been compiled with high scientific and polygraphic quality of 250 maps covering all levels of language based on rich dialectological materials.
He highly appreciated the publication of the Atlas of the Institute of Arts, Language and Literature of the Institute of Linguistics and the Department of Literary Studies, a successful outcome of productive research conducted by linguists in recent years and wished the authors success in their scientific activities.
Then, Kifayat Imamguliyeva, the head of the department of dialectology of the Azerbaijani language at the Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi, said that the study of different dialects and languages of Azerbaijan serves to the development of a dialectological atlas.
The director of the Institute of Linguistics, academician Mohsun Nagisoylu, director of the Institute of Arts, Language and Literature, correspondent member of ANAS Abulfaz Guliyev spoke at the event and underlined the importance of "Nakhchivan dialectological atlas of Azerbaijani language" in terms of studying our language and history.
