Today, the next special seminar was held at the Second Special Department of the Presidium of ANAS.
Heads of Civil Defense (CD) headquarters of scientific institutions and organizations of ANAS, as well as commanders of sanitary and intelligence sources of unarmed MM forces participated in the event.
The head of the department, Eldar Guliyev, opened the seminar and highlighted the issues on the agenda. The scientific report on the theme "Radiation safety in the Republic of Azerbaijan" will be listened at the event by Deputy Director of the Institute of Radiation Problems, PhD in Physics, Associate Professor Ravan Mehdiyeva.
Speaking about the radiation safety of our country, the speaker noted that the collapse of the USSR in 1991, the South Caucasus region again entered the system of interests of the world states. He said the location of the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea between Russia, Iran and Turkey would make the South Caucasus region East-West and North-South corridors, and that this would be a good value for the region, as well as the energy resources of the region. as the South Caucasus shows how important the South Caucasus is, as the South Caucasus is a region where these interests are collapsed, this issue must be taken seriously in the issue of nuclear safety. "
Reminding that neighboring countries have nuclear technology, the scientist said that Azerbaijan was eventually exposed to the effects of internal nuclear and radiation hazard factors.
R.Mehdiyeva said that Ukraine, which is the second biggest nuclear power of the former Soviet Union, plays a significant role in the regional security of the Caspian-Black Sea and South Caucasus, but has suffered a major blow to the country's economy as a result of tense relations with Russia. He said that as a result, the physical protection of Ukraine's nuclear facilities and technologies would weaken, and that the nuclear trafficking would be a threat to the South Caucasus's nuclear threat.
Mehdiyeva said that the biggest nuclear threat for the region is Metsamor AES, which is located in the 9.5-magnitude seismic zone of Armenia. He said that today the European Union demands closure because it does not meet the security criteria of Metsamor NPP.
Rashid Mehdiyeva said that the occupied territories of our occupied territories by Armenians could be used to maintain radioactive waste.
The scientist said that Washington, Seoul and the Hague summits were held in recent years with the participation of the heads of the states, to increase the safety of nuclear power systems, nuclear and radioactive materials in the world, and to strengthen international cooperation to prevent nuclear terrorism.
The report was welcomed by the event participants and the questions were answered.
Later on, the Heads of CD Headquarters’r report on CD trainings held in March were listened.
