The 1st event of "Dastans Evenings" project organized by ANAS Institute of Folklore and International Mugham Center (IMC) was held.
The event, which took place at the IMC, Director of the Center, People's Artist Murad Huseynov said that, such events, dedicated to the Azerbaijani people's creativity will be held regularly.
Then, director of the Institute of Folklore, academician Mukhtar Imanov said that, the project is important for promoting the art of Ashugs. He said that, the art of Ashug has ancient historical roots and has a special place in Azerbaijani folklore: "This art has gone through various stages and incorporates many of the intangible cultural values of our people." In 2009, the Ashug art was presented by UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage Included in the Reproducibility List".
He said that, the project was carried out to create a broad idea of the saga's performance and to promote it, as well as to present to the public the today's peculiarities of Ashug art.
Mukhtar Imanov underlined that, the Dastans such as “Abbas-Gulgas”, “Leyli-Majnun”, “Kichik Rza”, “Ashug Ali's Turkey tour”, “Muhammad-Salbi khanum”, ”Amrah-Salbi” will be presented to the audience.
