A press conference on the theme "Linguistic picture of the Sites" was held by the Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi of ANAS.

The event, which took place at the Electronic Hall of the Literature Institute, was opened by the Director of the Institute, Academician Mohsun Nagisoylu and the work carried out on the "State Program on the use of Azerbaijani language in accordance with time requirements in the conditions of globalization and the linguistic development in the country" approved by the Presidential Decree on 9 April 2013. He noted that the Monitoring Department was established on the execution of the decree in order to ensure compliance with the phonetic and grammatical norms of the Azerbaijani language in advertisements, mass media.

He said that the second official document adopted by the government of ADR was related to language and said that the Azerbaijani language was declared a state language by the decision on 27 June 1918.

He recalled that the nationwide leader was seriously concerned with the issue of mother tongue, and noted that at his request, Azerbaijani language as the state language was established in the Constitution of Azerbaijan SSR in 1978.

Mother tongue care policy today has been successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev, the State Program has been adopted, and the composition of the State Language Commission has been renewed, the speaker added.

Then, Head of the Monitoring Department of the Institute, Doctor in philology, doc. Sevinj Aliyeva underlined the importance of development of the Azerbaijani language as state language and preservation of the purity of the language. She said that, in the next few months TV and music performers will be monitored on the violation of literary language norms.

Later, the leading scientific researcher of the institute, Ph.D. in philology, doc. Shahlar Mammadov outlined the results of the monitoring of "Linguistic picture of the Sites". In his speech, he said there were serious processes affecting the language development on the websites, and about 30 electronic media monitoring was conducted. He noted that the purpose of the monitoring is to identify cases of violations of literary language of the press, and to make proposals for the implementation of measures to eliminate language defects.

Then, head of Terminology Department, Professor Sayali Sadigova, Head of Contemporary Azerbaijani Language Department, Doctor of Philology, Professor Ismayil Kazimov and others expressed their views on the topic.
