Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

On June 28, the three-day international scientific-practical conference on "Azerbaijan Democratic Republic: Bright page of Azerbaijani statehood history" was held in Ganja.

Participants of the conference, organized by ANAS Institute of History named after A.Bakikhanov, Ataturk Research Center of Turkey, Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan and Ganja City Executive Power, first visited the monument to national leader in park complex named after Heydar Aliyev.

Head of the Presidential Secretariat of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Assistant to the President Dilara Seyidzadeh, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Social Sciences of ANAS, Academician Nargiz Akhundova, Director of History Institute, Academician Yagub Mahmudov, Head of Ganja Executive Power Elmar Valiyev, MPs, heads of many scientific and educational institutions, well-known scientists. About 40 historians and scientists from 20 countries (Russia, Pakistan, India, Georgia, Egypt, Uzbekistan, North Cyprus, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Poland, Albania, Kazakhstan etc.) are also represented at the international conference.

The international event started with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Turkey.

Speaking at the conference, Elmar Valiyev, the head of the Ganja City Executive Power, called holding of such a prestigious event in Ganja a remarkable event. He said that the first capital and the headquarters of the Ganja Azerbaijan Democratic Republic constitute one of the most glorious and proud pages of our history and wished success to the conference.

Academician Y.Makhmudov said that, the first democratic democratic state of the East Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, which was established in a complicated era and operated in very difficult conditions. Azerbaijan Democratic Republic is a bright page of our national history, the Republic of Azerbaijan, having a specific place in the history of the people of Azerbaijan and its national statehood, has fulfilled its difficult task by forming state bodies in line with national demands and democratic principles, ensuring the territorial integrity and national security of the country, in a short time managed to create a highly capable army, the speaker underlined.

The sectional sessions of the three-day conference will be held at the historic building of the Government of the People's Republic of Azerbaijan, the main building of the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University and Ganja Division of ANAS.

Within the framework of the event it is planned to get acquainted with the historical and cultural centers of Ganja, to visit Goygol National Park and organize a large concert program in Ganja State Philharmonic named after Fikrat Amirov.
