Ancient necropolis found in the south-east of Khinalig village in the administrative territory of Guba region, led by the head of the scientific archive of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS) PhD in history Idris ALiyev.

According to him, the Khinalig archaeological expedition discovered a necropolis in the middle of the first millennium BC and the second half of the millennium BC in the south-east of the Khinalig village during this academic year. Despite the objective difficulties caused by geographical conditions and relief, the expedition has made significant progress.

The pre-discovered and investigated 12 graves are mainly east-west oriented, with stone tile pieces and walls covered. The skeletons of the skeletons are directed toward the north-west. Skeletons and their samples were taken for anthropological analysis.

In the studied graves, a rich burial inventory was discovered. Bronze and iron weapons, bronze decorations, numerous agates, cuneiform beads and other material culture samples were found in the inventory

Idris Aliyev noted that the discovery of the Khinalig necropolis can be regarded as removing another "gap" on the Azerbaijani archeological map. So far, there has been an opinion that this zone is an isolated terrain in its ancient geographical position and relief. The great scientific significance of the research is that it is possible to put forward a completely new idea of ​​the intensification of processes involving serious settlement in the area and in the entire region within the period between the end of the Bronze-early Iron Age and the era of the ancient era.
