Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

ANAS National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi held meeting with Tofig Melikli, turkologist, head of the Turkish Language and Cultures Center of Moscow State Linguistics University, Doctor of Philological Sciences, professor.

Meeting with participation of students of Oriental Studies and Turkish philology faculties of Baku State University who are probated in the museum, was told about notable scientist’s successful scientific achievements.

Rafael Huseynov, director of the museum, corresponding member of ANAS professor spoke about Tofig Melikli’s performance not only as president of “Ojag” Moscow-Azerbaijan Culture Center, vice-president of the All-Russian Congress of Azerbaijanis, as well as works done by him as an active member of the Azerbaijani diaspora.

Tofig Melikli is one of the outstanding scientists who had translated Turkish literature into Russian and Azerbaijani languages, Turkish literature, and be involved in promotion of Turkic peoples’ cultures. He is a professor of Western and Eastern literature chair at Moscow State Linguistic University, and head of Turkish Committee of the Russian Federation, “International Scientific Relations” section, R. Huseynov noted.

Tofig Melikli is known as a writer of “New Turkish poetry and Nazim Hikmet,” “Roots and Branches. “The problem of the Turkish culture, tradition and innovation”, “History of Turkish literature”, “Nazim Hikmet. Poetry and Poetics “,"Loneliness of a genius - Fazil Husnu Daglarja” monographs, and a variety of translations into Russian, Azerbaijani, and Turkish languages.

Finally, holding the 90th jubilee of Turkic congress that was held in Baku for the first time was proposed to hold in Azerbaijan, 2016 by R. Huseynov.
