Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Azerbaijan State Agrarian University (ASAU) hosted a seminar on discussion of innovation-driven research in agrarian science and their application in agriculture. The event was jointly organized by the Scientific Council on Genetics and Selection of Agricultural Plants and Animals of the Scientific Research Coordination Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Agrarian Science and Information Counseling Center of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Opening the seminar, Zeynal Akperov, the chairman of Scientific Council on Genetics and Selection of Agricultural Plants, Director of the Institute of Genetic Resources, correspondent member of ANAS, noted that agriculture is one of the key strategic areas of the country's economy in terms of food security. He emphasized that the development of this field can only be possible with the introduction of innovative scientific research and the intensive application of scientific results.

Then Z. Akparov spoke about the challenges of the modern era and demands made by the head of the country in the field of agrarian science and education. He pointed out the importance of directing and coordinating research.

Rector of ASAU, correspondent member of ANAS Ibrahim Jafarov noted that such events will play an important role in the integration of science and education, the acquisition of innovative information in the agrarian sphere and the training of highly skilled young cadres.

Javanshir Talai, Director of the Agricultural Scientific Research Institute of Agrarian Science and Information Counseling Center, made a presentation on "Agro-scientific research and application of innovations in agriculture". The main strategic directions and research priorities of the researches carried out by the reporter's structure, its subordinate scientific-research institutes, transfer of advanced technologies to the economy and so on.

At the end of the event the dissertation topics of doctoral and PhD dissertations of scientific research institutes of ASAU, Agrarian Science and Information Counseling Center were discussed and necessary recommendations were given on implementation of research works.
