Azerbaijan-Japan International Archaeological Expedition continues studies at Damjili cave camp near the Dashsalahli village of Gazakh region in the territory of "Avey" State Historical-Cultural Reserve. Employees of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS - PhDs in History Azad Zeynalov, Mansur Mansurov, as well as scientific researchers of the institute Yagub Mammadov and Ulviyya Heydarova have been involved in the research.
Japan is represented by experts on archeology, paleobotanics, paleobiology, topography and other field specialists of Ancient East Museum, Japanese Science Development Society, Vaseda University, Kanazawa University and other scientific centers under the leadership of Professor of the University of Tokyo Yoshihiro Nishiaki. As a result of the researches, the medieval, bronze, chalcolithic, neolithic, mesolite and middle paleolithic layers were discovered in the area.
Let's note that the first ancient Stone Age monument in Azerbaijan - Damjılı cave was discovered 65 years ago. During the period 1956-1957, the findings revealed a number of medium-paleolithic materials, upper paleolithic, mesolite, neolithic and medieval materials.
