Workshop has been held in Khachmaz Customs Office “Samukh” customs post by participation of ANAS Genetic Resources Institute (GRI) and the State Customs Committee (SCC).

Ina workshop dedicated to “Import and export rules of genetically modified materials to the customs territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan”, head of Customs Control Department, customs service colonel Javad Gasimov stated that, law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “on the conservation and sustainable use of genetic resources of cultivated plants” has banned the import of the GMO into the country.”

In the event , director of IGR Dr. agricultural sciences Zeynal Akperov delivered a lecture on “Genetic resources, their preservation, maintenance, importing or exporting”, deputy director of the institute, PhD in Biology Mehraj Abbasov on " Existing legislation on genetically modified organisms”, head of Central Examination Board ARDGK Mehriban Alizadeh on “Import and export rules of genetically modified materials to the customs territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan”, employee of the institute PhD in biology Javid Ojagi on “GMO and its molecular genetic identification”.
