"Doctor Omar Khayyam and his Rubai" book published

Having won the right to live forever in world science and the history of literature, the unprecedented mathematician, philosopher and poet of the 12th century - Omar Khayyam is 970.

Although Omar Khayyam was primarily a universal great scholar of the Middle Ages, in the world he was more famous as a poet, a master of Rubai. Among the eastern poets, he is the one whose works have been translated most of all into European languages.

Recently published in Tabriz voluminous book "Doctor Omar Khayyam and his Rubai" is a worthy gift on the anniversary of the outstanding master.

Director of ANAS National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature, academician Rafael Huseynov wrote an introduction to the publication. In the detailed written "Foreword" of the academician it is shown that, in recent years the literary critic and publisher Ali Polad (Aliasker Vahabzadeh) is conducting effective and extensive works on the distribution of the literary heritage and personality of Omar Khayyam.

As a result of his work, Khayyam's Rubai were published in Tehran in Persian, in Turkey in Turkish, in Russian in Moscow, in Tabriz in Azerbaijani with the Arabic alphabet. Also in 2009, Rubai were reflected in the translation of famous poets who lived in Baku in the twentieth century.

It should be noted that, all of the above editions begin with articles written by R.Huseynov and tell about the life and work of Omar Khayyam. Rafael Huseynov writes: "For the first time in one edition, Omar Khayyam's Rubai are collected, translated into various Turkic languages. The book reflected Rubai, translated by 34 poets.

Despite the fact that the Khayyam’s Rubai were published several times in Azerbaijani, Turkish and Uzbek languages, for the first time in this edition they were published in the Tatar, Gagauz and other languages of the Turkic peoples.

The fact that the translations of a Rubai, belong to various periods is an indicator that they were always esteemed and were demanded among the Turkic people".

In the book, decorated with specially drawn miniatures by the Iranian artists, besides the translations, for better comparison and clarification of the quality of the translation are also presented the originals.

ANAS National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature is supposed to hold an international conference dedicated to Omar Khayyam in November of this year. Within the framework of this conference there will be a presentation of the book "Doctor Omar Khayyam and his Rubai".
