Azerbaijan-Germany international expedition "Shamkir-Garacemirli" is carrying out archeological researches in Kurgantapa and Dere Yataq monuments located near Garacemirli village of Shamkir region from August 2018. Studies at the Gurbantepe monument are continued in the remains of the palace built in the 5th century AD in the architectural style of Ahamani.
Researchers of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, the head of the expedition, PhD in history Emil Iskenderov and scientific researchers Sevinj Huseynova, Ulviya Heyderova and Faig Babayev participated in the research.
The German side is represented by the director of the Munich State Antiquities and Glyptotek Museum, Professor Florian Knaus, Department Coordinator of the Institute for Pre-Asian Archeology of the University of Munich, Ludwig and Dr. Kay Kaniut.
According to E. Isgandarov, the size of the building and the condition of the buildings, is very different from the similar monuments in the South Caucasus and has great scientific significance. Archeological excavations have been started in 2006 in this complex, consisting of several buildings. The results obtained during the current excavations are quite interesting.
In general, finding small archaeological materials and at the same time discovering unfinished columns allows for the idea that the palace is not over.
