Bronze Age settlement was found in Goranboy region

The Naftalan-Goranboy archaeological expedition of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS found a multi-layered settlement in Shafag village.

Ancient and medieval material and cultural samples were found on the settlement of the Bronze Age. The find is 500-600 meters north of the village of Shafag, on the left bank of the ancient stream. The dwelling consists of a heights of over two hectares Leading researcher at the Institute, head of expedition, PhD in history Muzaffar Huseynov said.

The expedition carried out excavations on the southern and eastern slopes of the settlement. Archeological investigations have revealed that the thickness of the cultural layer is greater than 10 meters. Bronze, antique and medieval pottery and stone products were found on the site. The Bronze Age pottery is made of black, gray and brown cube, cube, cup, plate and other containers.

Further expansion of archaeological excavations at the place of residence is planned.
