History Institute of ANAS and Turkish Research Center (TRC) held the international symposium on "The Ottoman Empire in the First World War - Azerbaijan's Connections and the Caucasian Islamic Army" devoted to the 100th anniversary of Baku's liberation from the Armenian-Bolshevik occupation on September 13-16 in Baku.

The symposium was organized in accordance with the orders of President Ilham Aliyev - "On the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic" and "On the announcement of 2018 in the Republic of Azerbaijan" Year of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic".

At the closing ceremony, director of the Institute of History, academician Yagub Mahmudov and chairman of the TRC Mehmet Ali Beyhan spoke.

Y.Makhmudov, referring to the words of the national leader Heydar Aliyev "One nation, two states," spoke about the Azerbaijani-Turkish fraternal relations: "In the most difficult times, Azerbaijan and Turkey supported each other. In 1915, at Canakkale, Azerbaijanis, and in 1918 in Azerbaijan, the Turks fought side by side. "He noted that, Aliaga Shikhlinski, Gabib bey Selimov and others took an active part in such an important historical event as the liberation of Baku by the Caucasian Islamic Army.

Y.Makhmudov said that, according to the results of research work at the Institute of History, there was evidence that before 1918 there was never an Armenian state in the South Caucasus.

Speaking at the conference, Professor Mehmet Ali Beyhan said that the rescue mission of the Caucasian Islamic Army is always welcomed with admiration in both countries: "The military campaign and the victory of the Caucasian Islamic Army have clearly demonstrated that Turkey and Azerbaijan are always ready to help each other in the most difficult situations".

At the international conference, were listened such reports as "The Role of the National Military Forces of Azerbaijan in the Formation and Activities of the Caucasian Islamic Army", "The issue of passing Yerevan to Armenians in foreign policy of the Ottoman Empire", "Ganja period of the activities of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic: June crisis", "Politico" -diplomatic struggle of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in the liberation of Baku"," Baku capture Policy by major powers in German archival documents", "The issue of recognition of independence Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and Baku Oil", etc.
