ANAS Nakhchivan Division held an event on "Archaeological research at ANAS".

The chairman of the Division, academician Ismayil Hajiyev, told about archaeological works carried out at the autonomous republic for more than 10 years, brought to the attention that, this year in excavations I Kultepe, Duzdag and Nakhchivantapa excavations were carried out jointly with the scientists of the French National Scientific Research Center. Noting the historical importance for Nakhchivan of the found material and cultural samples, academician noted that, there are many other ancient settlements on the territory of the Autonomous Republic.

Further, head of the Department of Archeology of the ancient period of the Institute of History, Ethnography and Archeology of the Department, the head of the Nakhchivan archaeological expedition, corresponding member of ANAS Bakhshaliyev Veli informed the participants on work of the expedition in Nakhchivan territory.

The archaeologist said that, this year excavations were carried out on the territory of Duzdag, found tools of the early Bronze Age and ceramic products. Also, during the work in I Kultapa and the adjacent places of the settlement, it was established that Kultapa refers to the Neolithic period, people living here were engaged in agriculture and nomadic cattle breeding. It was noted that work will continue here. The scientist also told about the excavations carried out on the territory of the monument of Nakhchivantapa.

The head of the project of the expedition of Azerbaijan and the French National Scientific Research Center, employee of the same center, Catherine Marro said that, archaeological work is carried out in three regions of Azerbaijan, and the international expedition cooperates in this field with the Nakhchivan region for 13 years and with the other two 10. She said that, in October of this year in Baku, during the exhibition results will be presented on 3 expeditions, as well as materials received in points I Kultapa, Ovchulat and Duzdag.
