ANAS Institute of Literature held presentation of the “Divan by Shah Ismail Khatai” book prepared by Professor Muhsin Majit from the University of Anadolu Turkey.
The event was held by the organizational work of the Institute of Yunus Emre Turkish Culture Center in Baku.
Vice-President of ANAS, Director of the Institute of Literature, academician Isa Habibbeyli, who opened the meeting, noted that, the book is the result of many years of scientific work of M.Majit. The academician stressed that, President of Turkey, Prime Minister, the Minister of Culture and Tourism wrote the “Preface” to the publication.
The book reflects the life, works, and manuscripts of the great state commander Shah I. Khatai. During his short life, he created a rich multi-faceted heritage and enriched Azerbaijani literature with works written in both epic and lyrical genres.
The scientist said that, Khatai’s religious poems were hidden from the Azerbaijani people during the Soviet era, and after gaining independence, our country revealed the truth about the classics. The publication will help strengthen science, education, literature and cultural ties between the two countries, and it is a valuable source for future research by Azerbaijani scientists.
Speaking about Director of the Institute of Yunus Emre, Baku Center for Turkic Culture, Cihan Ozdemir said that, historically Turkic rulers contributed to science, education and art. He noted that, Shah Ismail Khatai was one of such rulers; during his reign, high support was provided to scholars, artisans and literary figures.
Doctors of Philology Sciences Maharram Gasimli, Alizade Askerli, Pasha Karimov, Farida Azizova, Imamverdi Hamidov and Zakullla Bayramli told about the value of the book and expressed their opinion on the manuscripts and comments in the publication. At the end of the book, the author Muhsin Majit thanked the organizers and participants of the event.
