VII international scientific conference on "Information technologies in solving modern problems of geology and geophysics" has started at the Central Scientific Library of ANAS on October 15.
More than 140 young researchers from 18 countries are taking part in the conference dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of ANAS.
Academician-secretary of the Division of Earth Sciences of ANAS, acad. Fakhraddin Gadirov noted that in recent years the youth policy has been of particular importance for the country's key priorities. He said the main purpose of the conference was to bring together young researchers from different universities, academies and institutes around the world, to discuss common problems in the field of Earth sciences and to propose solutions for their solutions.
Afterwards, academician Akper Feyzullayev, head of the Geochemistry and Fluid Dynamics Departments of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, emphasized the importance of attracting young people to science and the involvement in research work.
Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of ANAS, PhD in Physics Famin Salmanov spoke about the role of young scientists in the development of Azerbaijani science and integration into world science.
Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, PhD in Geology and Mineralogy Orkhan Abbasov emphasized that the conference contributed to exchange of scientific research and experience with our foreign colleagues.
Later, BP's authorized representative, Arzu Javadova and Professor of Martin Luther University, Ian Lerche made a presentation on the activities of their businesses.
At the conference four reports of young people on different topics were listened and discussions were held.
The event will continue until October 18.
