An article “The skyline operator for selecting the best virtual machines” co-authored by Director of the ANAS Institute of Information Technology, academician Rasim Alguliyev, deputy director on Technology of the Institute, Ph.D in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Rashid Alakparov, Department head, corresponding member of ANAS, Doctor Technical Sciences Ramiz Aliguliyev and head of the sector Oktay Alakparov was published in the prestigious “International Journal of Modern Education and Computer Science” journal.

The article provides a solution to the problem of placing mobile users’ queries (tasks or software applications) on a balanced virtual machine (VMs) developed on cloudlets placed near base stations of the Wireless Metropolitan Area Networks (WMAN) taking into account their technical capabilities. For this purpose, hierarchically structured architecture and algorithm based on cloudlets are proposed for the selection of virtual machines that provide the requirements (solution time and cost) to the solution of the user’s task.
