Scientific seminar on "The culture of Azerbaijan in the second half of the twentieth century: the accultural situation and the integrative functioning of folklore"

On November 7 PhD on philology Sarkhan Khaveri’s scientific seminar on " The culture of Azerbaijan in the second half of the twentieth century: the accultural situation and the integrative functioning of folklore " was held at the Central Scientific Library of ANAS, organized by the Institute of Folklore. Employees of the Institute of Folklore, Philosophy, Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, teachers and students of the higher educational institutions of the Republic of Azerbaijan, doctors and dissertators participated in the seminar.

Director of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, academician Mukhtar Imanov spoke about the relevance and importance of the topic.

Sarkhan Khaveri, speaking at the conference, said that the complex culture of evolutionary Azerbaijani culture, as well as its social-cultural system, geneological, historical, cultural, sociological, ideological, should especially be emphasized. It should be noted that the ethno-cultural features of any culture that constitute the system integrity and the integrity of this culture are more prominent in the active interaction with alien culture rather than in the ordinary.

The speaker talked about the notion of "acculture" which was not widely used in the national socio-humanitarian science circulation. He said that acculture is a process of its cultivation as a result of uninterrupted contact with alien culture in modern culturology. There are four strategies to choose from one of the possible solutions of this dilemma: assimilation (full loss of cultural identity and gaining new cultural identity), separation (full denial of cultural identification and denial of alien culture), marginalization (loss of traditional cultural identities and non-acceptance of new cultural identity), integration (with a new culture, with the preservation of traditional cultural identities profile) ".

S. Khaveri noted that the process of accultation should be scientifically monitored at different stages of Azerbaijan national culture, especially in the 60-80s of the last century, which is accompanied by extremely complicated acoustic situations.

Later, S. Khaveri argued that the strategic choice of Azerbaijani culture in the context of relations with Western culture was the integration of the strategic culture of the Azerbaijani culture and that the main factor contributing to the integration was the traditional culture and folklore mentality as a major regulatory parameter in these processes.

According to the analysis carried out on various cultural facts, the speaker noted that in the 60-80s of the 20th century, the regulatory function of folklore in Azerbaijani culture was based on the following mechanism: the main feature of folklore, which is sociocentric functionality, is to provide a new level of elements in the system it has been subjected to the semantic structure of the system, in other words, regulated the sociodiferensional function.

In the end, Sarkhan Khaveri answered the questions of folklore scholars on the scientific problem. The report was widely discussed. Head of the Department of Mythology of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, Doctor of Philology, Professor Seyfaddin Rzasoylu, Chief Scientific researcher of the Institute of Philosophy of ANAS, Doctor of Philosophy Fuzuli Gurbanov, famous culturologist, Professor Fuad Mammadov and others emphasized the relevance of the topic in terms of studying modern Azerbaijani culture.
