Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On November 15, Central Scientific Library hosted a jubilee event dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi of ANAS.

Head of Department of Humanitarian Policy of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Professor Farah Aliyeva, deputies of Milli Majlis, prominent scientists, literary and cultural figures and guests from foreign countries attended the event.

Participants first acquainted with books published by scientists of the Institute of Literature.

At the jubilee event, according to the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, awards were given to the employees awarded with honorary titles and medals on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the Institute of Literature.

Professor Vadim Polonsky, Director of the World Literature Institute named after Maxim Gorky of Russian Academy of Sciences, and Irma Ratiani, director of the Georgian Literature Institute named after Shota Rustaveli, was named honorary doctor of the Institute of Literature.

The event was opened by Academician Akif Alizadeh, President of ANAS, and spoke about the glorious path passed by the Institute of Literature over 85 years, talked about the contribution of the outstanding scientists to Azerbaijan's literary criticism and spoke about the scientists who led the organization. He said that the Institute of Literature is one of the leading scientific-research institutions of the ANAS Department of Humanities.

The institute, which has functioned as the headquarters of literary science in our country, played an important role in the creation of scientific potential in various fields of literature, President of ANAS added. A.Alizadeh spoke about the requirements of time and the main tasks of literature, emphasizing the great responsibility of the employees of the Literature Institute in this direction and wished them success in their activities.

Speaking about the attention and care shown by the great leader Heydar Aliyev to the Azerbaijani scientists, the speaker noted that the work in this direction was successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.

Vice-President of the ANAS, director of the Institute of Literature, academician Isa Habibbeyli said that the organization headed by ANAS has exceptional services in the history of our country. He noted that since March 1933, the Institute functioned as the Literary Sector on the basis of the Azerbaijani branch of the Transcaucasian branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences. He added that while the AS was created in 1945, the Institute of Language and Literature continued its activity within the Social Sciences Department and in 1969 it became an independent Institute of Literature.

The institute has been the center of philology in Azerbaijan for 85 years, consistently studying national-moral culture, folklore, classical and contemporary literature, foreign literature, large-scale historical works in its field of study, publication and propaganda, vice-president of ANAS stated.

Chairman of Azerbaijan Writers Union, People's Writer Anar, People's Writer Sabir Rustamkhanli, Chief Science researcher of Literature Institute, Professor Gazanfar Pashayev, Director of the World Literature Institute named after Maxim Gorky of Russian Academy of Sciences Professor Vadim Polonsky, , director of the Georgian Literature Institute named after Shota Rustaveli - Irma Ratiani, vice-president of Tatarstan AS, academician Daniil Zakidullina, Director of the Institute of Literature named after Yanka Kupala of Belarus AS, Professor Ivan Savhesthenko, Director of Literature Institute of the Bulgarian AS,  Yelka Traykova, active member of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan Naim Karimov, Director of Literature Institute of Mongolia AS, Bilquudei Qaadamba, Rector of the Rostov Institute of Management, Business and Law, Professor Imran Akbarov, director of Tatarstan AS Language and Literature Institute, correspondent member Kim Minnullin, , deputy director of the Institute of Literature and Art of Kazakhstan named after Mukhtar Auezov - Almira Kaliyeva and others congratulated the staff of the institute on the 85th jubilee and spoke about the prospects of cooperation with this scientific institution.

At the end a documentary film about the 85th anniversary of the Institute of Literature was demonstrated.
