ANAS Central Scientific Library by support of the Institute of Folklore held "Semantics of metaphorical thinking in folklore" republican scientific conference on November 21. The event was attended by employees of several institutes of ANAS, teachers and students of republican higher scientific institutions, doctoral students and dissertators, as well as mass media representatives.
Director of the Institute of Folklore, academician Mukhtar Imanov, opened the event, said that the theme of the conference was one of the most topical aspects of modern folklore studies. The urgency of the issue is due to the fact that the study of folklore in the context of metaphorical thinking provides a more systematic approach to it as an integrated socio-cultural institution. The study of the values of proverbs, fairy tales, sayings, perhaps based on a metaphorical approach to folklore.
Next, head of the chair of Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry, Doctor of Philology, Professor Rustam Kamal delivered a paper on "The semantics of speech genres and ritual attitude in the epic" Kitabi-Dede Gorgud".
Head of the department of the Institute of Philosophy, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Gurbanov Fuzuli delivered a paper on “Philosophical Approach to Metaphorical Thought in Folklore”. Then, Associate Professor of the BSU chair, Ph.D. in Philology Kamala Islamzadeh delivered a paper on "The history and ethnographic semantics of the international plot "Murder of the elderly" in folklore". Leading researcher of the Department of Mythology of ANAS Institute of Folklore, Ph.D in Philology, Associate Professor Shakir Albaliyev on "Metaphorical thinking as the determining factor of the spirit of the people".
In conclusion, was held extensive exchange of views on the reports and issues.
