On November 29, the Central Scientific Library of ANAS hosted the Republican Scientific Conference on "Deportations in the Caucasus".

Young scientists and researchers, from different universities participated at the conference, organized by the Institute of Caucasian Studies.

Firstly, an exhibition of publications by the Institute of Caucasian Studies was demonstrated at the foyer.

Vice President of ANAS, acad. Isa Habibbeyli spoke about the policy of ethnic cleansing and deportation carried out by Armenians from time to time and emphasized the scientific and historical significance of the conference. He said that the event on deportation in the Caucasus was the first republican conference in this regard in our country.

The topic of the conference is always important for our people for studying deportations against the various peoples of the Caucasus, revealing historical facts, summarizing these documents and combining scholars and young researchers in this field.

Academician I.Habibbayli shared his views on the activities of the Institute of Caucasian Studies and noted that the company has done a great deal of work in the short run and scientific facts have been discovered as a result of scientific studies carried out by historians. The scientist pointed out that the tragedies perpetrated against our people in the ANAS, from the beginning of the 20th century.

Heydar Aliyev has always demonstrated principal approach to the genocide and deportation issues. After National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s return to the power, the essence of the genocide and deportation policy carried out by the Armenian nationalists against our people has been fully disclosed and exposed, Vice-President of ANAS emphasized.

At the end of his speech, academician I.Habibbeyli expressed his confidence that the conference would give positive results to the achievement of scientific results in this regard.

Then, director of the Institute of Caucasian Studies, correspondent member of ANAS Musa Gasimli presented the report on "International conditions and Deportations in the Caucasus in the 40s of XX century". He spoke about deportations in the Caucasus, as well as the basic principles of the deportation of the 40s, analyzing them from a historical, political point of view and pointing to the facts.

The conference continued with sectional sessions on "Deportations in the South Caucasus" and "Deportations in the North Caucasus".
