Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Institute of Petrochemical Processes (IPP) named after Y.H.Mammadaliyev celebrated prominent chemist, Honored Scientist, academician Akif Azizov’s 75th anniversary.

The event began with the memory of the scientist with a minute of silence.

The meeting was opened by Academician Vagif Abbasov, Director of the IPP talked about A.Azizov's life and scientific activity. He was born on November 2, 1943 in Umudlu village of Agdere region. He entered the Chemistry Department of the Azerbaijan State University in 1960 and continued his education at the Moscow State University named after M.Lomonosov in 1964-1966.

Academician started his labor activity in IPP in 1966, and worked as a and senior science researcher, laboratory and department manager and also deputy director for scientific work in 1970-2014. In addition, he headed the Institute of Polymer Materials at ANAS in 2014-2016, speaker underlined.

Elmira Suleymanova, Director of the Institute of Additives Chemistry, academician Vagif Farzaliyev, Director of the Polymer Materials Institute, correspondent member of ANAS Bakhtiyar Mammadov, Ph.D. Professor Minavar Ibrahimov and others shared their memories about the scientist and talked about contribution to the development of chemistry in our country.

At the end, a video clip dedicated to the memory of the scientist was demonstrated.
