ANAS Institute of Geography held next general meeting

ANAS Institute of Geology and Geophysics held the next meeting of Division of Earth Sciences, which was attended by the Vice-President of ANAS, academician Ibrahim Guliyev, Academician-Secretary of the Division, academician Fakhraddin Kadirov, heads and employees of relevant scientific institutions.

Then, Deputy Director for scientific affairs of ANAS Institute of Geography (IG), Ph.D in Geography Maharram Hasanov delivered report on the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the institution for 2018.

He noted that the institute conducted a number of studies in connection with the implementation of the Order of President Ilham Aliyev “On additional measures to improve the favorable environment of the business environment in the Republic of Azerbaijan and further improve our country's position in international ratings”, “State Program on the Socio-Economic Development of Regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2014–2018”, “State Program on the Development of Industry in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2015–2020” and the Development Concept “Azerbaijan 2020: Look to the Future”.

The scientist noted that, the works were devoted to the current state of water resources, climate change, economic-geographical and demographic problems of the regions, the study of tourism activities, the current state of the quality of life of the population of the republic, the analysis of the names of geographical objects of Azerbaijan and other issues.

He noted that the current state of the water resources of the Lankaran natural region was also studied. He said that, water resources fell by 5% to 1.43 km3. 46% of the republic's income from agriculture is accounted for by crop production, 54% by livestock.

The works done by the Institution for 2018 is reflected in 3 books, 10 monographs, 1 journal and textbook, 3 textbooks, 2 teaching materials and 120 articles.

In conclusion, were considered a number of current issues.
