Next meeting of ANAS Presidium held on February 8.

First of all, was considered the issue of the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the Division of Social Sciences of ANAS for 2018. Scientists, employees of institutes and organizations of the Division presented papers on the important scientific results obtained for 2018.

Then, Academician-Secretary of Division, academician Nargiz Akhundova reported that, the scientific Institutions of the Division relied on the state programs, orders of ANAS head and the decisions of the Presidium.

The scientist spoke in detail about the activities carried out in accordance with the decrees and orders of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev "On the 100th anniversary of the ADR", "On the 100th anniversary of the genocide of Azerbaijanis in 1918", on the preparation of the Development Concept "Azerbaijan 2020: a look at Future”, on approval of the “State Program for the Development of Official Statistics in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2013-2017”, “On Approval of Strategic Road Maps for the National Economy and Major Sectors of the Economy”, as well as the “National Action Program to Increase the Efficiency of Protecting Human Rights and Freedoms in the Republic of Azerbaijan” activities of historical and cultural reserves for 2014-2020", “The State Program for the Development of Industry in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2015-2020”, “The State Program for the Conservation and Development of Carpet Art in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2018-2022”, “The National Strategy for the Development of the Information Society in the Azerbaijan Republic for 2014-2020 ".

Academician stressed that, last year the Division conducted research on 138 topics covering 30 problems, 384 stages of 322 works, 228 stages of 141 works on 56 topics were completed. Nargiz Akhundova also noted that, 83 books were published, 2 of which were published abroad, 91 monographs, 11 of which were published abroad, 1615 articles, 334 of which were published abroad, 270 theses, 85th were published in abroad. She added that, 38 articles with impact factor were published by the staff of the Division, 582 times were referred to their scientific works.

30 people defended PhD, 6 people - for the degree of Doctor of Science; currently, 32 doctoral students and 221 dissertation scholars are studying at the Division, as well as 2 Magistrants.

Academician-Secretary of the Division noted that, last year the international relations of all scientific institutions were further expanded. She stressed that, institutions and organizations continued to cooperate in various fields with research centers in the USA, Great Britain, France, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic, Russia, Turkey, Georgia, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, China and other countries of the world. Nargiz Akhundova also raised issues such as the execution of the decisions of the Presidium of ANAS and the orders of the President of ANAS, structural changes, past conferences and anniversaries, awards, foreign business trips, the integration of science and education, the activities of young scientists and specialists, etc.

After listening the report and discussions, the Presidium adopted a resolution approving the report and including it in the annual report of ANAS.

Instructions were given in such areas as the activities of a scientific seminar on improving the scientific and theoretical methodology of interdisciplinary research, preparation of joint projects with partner organizations to join European programs, taking into account priority areas of science, the integration of science and education, the publication of scientific articles on historical issues, archeology, economics, philosophy of Azerbaijan, in journals with impact factor, etc.

At the meeting, Academician Nargiz Akhundova was awarded the badge devoted to the 25th anniversary of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan.
