Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

The next meeting of Presidium of ANAS was held on February 8. The meeting was opened by academician Akif Alizadeh, president of ANAS, and informed about the agenda.

The report on scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the Nakhchivan Division of ANAS in 2018 listened. Chairman of the Division, academician Ismayil Hajiyev said that in the reporting year 21 decrees and orders of the President, 15 decrees and orders of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ali Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and 36 decrees of the Cabinet of Ministers, Order and Decree, 16 orders of ANAS and the decision have been implemented.

Noting statistical data on important results, İ.Hajiyev said that 36 works on 7 themes covering 6 problems in 6 scientific directions were implemented in 89 stages. 23 monographs, 15 books, 4 brochures, 3 methodical aids, 555 scientific articles, 213 conference materials and 7 theses were published in the reporting year. 2 monographs, 87 scientific articles, 75 conference materials and 3 theses were published abroad. The number of scientific articles published in journals with Impact Factor is 48.

He spoke about the application-oriented work carried out in the academic institutions. He noted that the chemical composition of Shorsu mud was analyzed, and 132 official pharmaceutical plants included in Pharmacopeia, used in scientific medicine and folk medicine, have been found in territorial flora of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

The speaker also spoke about international cooperation and grants. He noted that close cooperation with science and education institutions of the USA, France, Turkey, Russia, Kazakhstan, Iran and other countries last year have been established. Speaking about the completion of the 2-nation grant project, the speaker underlined that the implementation of 1 international and 1 national grant project is underway.

Giving information on the state of e-science, the academician said that last year, important events, interesting information, held events and other information were posted on www.ameanb.nakhchcivan.az electronic portal. During the year, the scientific library of the division prepared electronic versions of 454 books of various fields of science, 319 of which were placed on the electronic portal www.e-kitab.ameanb.nmr.az,  and 135 were placed on the internal network of the library.

Speaking about the staff preparation, I.Hajiyev said that currently 16 doctoral and 32 PHD students continue their research.

After the report was listened, the questions were answered. Presidium made a decision to approve the report and include to the annual report of ANAS. Implementation of the activities envisaged by the Action Plan in connection with the execution of orders by President Ilham Aliyev “On holding 650th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Imadeddin Nasimi” and the proclamation 2019 as "Nasimi Year", "On celebrating Jalil Mammadguluzade's 150th anniversary" and other issues are considered.
