| Establishment history | The Institute of Philosophy as an independent structural unit of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan acted in 1945-1950 by naming the Institute of Philosophy, in 1950-56 "Institute of History and Philosophy", in 1956-67 "the Philosophical Sector" of Azerbaijan SA, since 1967 till June of 2002 as " the Institute of Philosophy and Law of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan named Bahmaniyara,", since July 2002 till 2009 as "the Institute of Philosophy and Political-Law Researches", since January of 2009 till 2013 named the Institute of Philosophy, Sociology and Law". In 2013-2016 The Institute of Philosophy and Law, and since October 2016 The Institute of Philosophy. Since November 2020, it has been renamed the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology.
